Flames of War D-Day Event October 2007

October 20th was the date of our special Flames of War D-Day event. A few weeks ago, Scott Barlow had the idea to build some scenery boards and put on a special D-Day Flames of War event. He enlisted the help of Jim Klein to help with building the scenery boards. Jim did one heck of a job in the short time he was given. With less than 2 weeks to work, more than 24 hours of storms straight in the area, spawning some tornado activity, fighting humidity, he actually met the deadline. They may not have been finished to the standards he wanted, but he did finish in time! To contribute to the event, a number of people chipped in to help. Mike Bobe built landing craft, and painted buidings. Bob Davison dug out some 15mm buidings he had. Jim Klein and Scott Barlow also contributed buildings. For the game itself, Nick Stevens and Jim Klein provided the German forces. Scott provided the British Landing forces. And Brian Simmons provided his US Rangers. Due to another commitment, Nick was unable to play his German forces, so Byron Tripp and Jim Klein ran the German defenders. The attacking British forces were run by Wendell Horn and Jarod Heathcole. Scott Barlow was the overall judge, overseer, and rules checker for the event. The battle went back and forth, as you'll see in the pictures!
