Flames of War Tanksgiving - November 2009

Each year Battlefront Miniatures, the producers of the very popular Flames of War WWII wargame, promote a nationwide event called Tanksgiving! Thanksgiving weekend, we try to hold a massive Flames of War game to celebrate. This year we held our game at the new Meme's Shop, a consignment shop that just opened next to Bobe's Hobby House. Meme rents out tables to people to have a group indoor yard sale. She has a great building, and wonderful tables. We held our Bobe's Garage Sale here in the weeks prior to Thanksgiving, and decided it seemed like a perfect venue for larger gaming events as well! We were able to hold a game on 2 of her 4' x 8' tables, giving us a playing area of 4' by 16'! Today's game was set in North Africa, and to allow as many players as possible, it was not exactly historically based. The Allies consisted of British Desert Rats, a US Infantry force, and a large Soviet armored force! The axis forces included German armor, Italian Desert forces, and German Fallschirmjager. We were able to introduce a number of new players to the game, including a few very sharp kids! It was a great time for all, and we are looking forward to more such events in the future!
