No, this is not some strange obelisk from 2001. It's a look-down periscope. It lets you see things like your figures would!
It's hard to get a picture through, but here's what it looks like through the periscope.
More great explosion markers. This time in paper.
And, speaking of paper, this whole table is paper terrain. This is Mark Fluitt's "Berlin" game using a modified set of Panzerknacker rules.
The paper terrain is printed out, then mounted on foamcore, cardstock, or other material.
And when done right, it looks great!
