These are photos from the annual PMFS Figure Contest in September of 2006.
One of the most impressive pieces at this year's show was Gil Gonsoulin's 1/72 Scale Revell Germany U-Boat. And not just for the model....
The beautiful water work and waves in this diorama really add to the kit.
The water really looks real!
The waves the U-Boat are crashing through almost look enough to destroy it.
You would never know this U-boat really was submerged! Gil's house in New Orleans was flooded in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. This U-Boat diorama was actually under 9 feet of water for a week. The ceiling collapsed on the case, but the case held. Gil was able to save this piece, and restore it to the way you see now.
