New Model Railroad Announcements for 2003-4!!!

As usual there were so many announcements in the railroad field, I can't list them all! And there are neat things coming out in scales we just don't carry at this point, so this is an abridged list of some things we thought were cool. Let's start with Broadway Limited's On30 Scale 2-8-0 with sounds! This will add to the growing popularity of On30. While we're on the On30 subject, Bachmann also has announced a 2-8-0 Baldwin Consolidation Steam Loco (Outside Frame), new passenger cars, and most exciting, a 28-ton Two-Truck Class B Climax Loco with a straight boiler. This really is an exciting new scale. For those of you unfamiliar with it, On30 is O gauge (1/48 scale) equipment that runs on HO scale track! This lets you build in a larger, easier to see and detail scale, but maintain the smaller layouts possible with HO.

In N scale, there will finally be more choices in Steam Locomotives! Bachmann has announced a USRA 2-6-6-2 Articulated, and a Baldwin 4-6-0 ten Wheeler. Atlas will be releasing a 2-6-0 Mogul this year as well. And Roundhouse is releasing a 2-6-0 Steam Loco as well! Also coming in N scale, Deluxe Innovations has the new Gunderson Maxi-Stack III coming out, along with 53' Corrugated containers.

Now to the most popular scale overall, HO. Bachmann has announced a 50-ton Class B Two-truck Climax Locomotive, and a Norfolk & Western 4-8-4 Class J Loco. They will also be releasing the Amtrak Acela HHP Loco, along with several other diesels. Athearn will release the Genesis series 4-6-6-4 Challenger. Athearn will also continue to release new rolling stock, and will continue their very popular Coca-Cola series. They also have started releasing a series of US Postal Service items. Roundhouse also continues to release lots of cool stuff. This year we will see their "Critter", an EMD Model 40 Phase 1 Diesel, which is tiny! Another neat release from Roundhouse is new Beer Cars. This time it's 36' Old Time Reefers. These are always popular. As usual, Walthers has some neat new buildings coming up, including a Route 66 Hotel that looks really good. They are also continuing to release neat new rolling stock. And Boley are also continuing their fine work. This year they have announced HO Scale School Busses, more Fire Trucks, new Forestry Service vehicles, more WWII Armor, and more!
